The Stellar Awards Celebrating Gospel Music's Best

Don Jackson and I got married forty-seven years ago today. I’m writing to the Stellar Awards community on our anniversary because I feel so very blessed for so many reasons, but today I especially thank God for Don Jackson, and I want you to know why.  On Valentine’s Day this year, I received a confirmed breast cancer diagnosis. That was, to say the least, a stunning and life-changing piece of information. I had gone to the doctor alone, and sat in her office praying and crying until I could gather myself and drive home.  When I told Don the news, he took me in his arms and said, “That wasn’t the report we wanted, but we’ll get through this together. We have faith in God, and we’ll get through this.” Just his comforting voice, his tender hug, and his pronounced faith in God gave me such a lift that I cannot even describe. This is always an interesting time.  I want to share a special moment from the 2012 Stellar Awards.
Some of the things that happen with the artists backstage are pretty spectacular.   This story is centered around a girl name Angelique (Angel) Rocker, 17 and Kirk Franklin.
Angel is a 17 year-old quadriplegic who is unable to see or speak but is stimulated by gospel music.  Angel’s mother, Deidra Rocker, shared that the Stellar Awards was the first concert that Angel was able to stay until the end.  Deidra, that’s because the Stellar Awards is more than a concert; it is a ministry.  Stay on topic Erma.
